Well, I overslept and wound up going to the same shul I have been to before. It is only about a block away. They have a new Rabbi there, so there was a very nice Kiddush after services. Of course, since they finish SO EARLY here, it was only 10:30 AM when it was served. As a result, it was mostly sweets and some kind of breakfast tidbits that I have never seen before. Oh well, they were worth trying but I wouldn’t take seconds on any of it.

The last couple of lessons at the Ulpan have been relatively easier for me as they contained a number of words that I already know. On top of that we had VERY little homework so I was able to catch up on what I was unable to finish over the weekend.

For those of you keeping track, we have been in an extreme heat wave here for the last month or so, and they expect the heat to continue through August. I wouldn’t mind the heat as much if it didn’t come with the humidity that is also present. This is the type of weather that gets you sweaty before you have walked a block. I walk a couple kilometers each day, so go through clothes more quickly that I had expected to. Good thing we have a washer, but I sure would like a dryer too. Takes wet stuff a LONG time to dry in real humid air! I guess it doesn’t help any that there is no air conditioning at the apartment and the heat has “gotten to me” several times to the point of listlessness, headaches, dizzy spells etcetera. Well, “they” tell me that August should be the end of it. We shall see.
