Another week has come and gone. I did a number of pieces for the instructor on Monday evening and, as a result, now have more pieces to learn. This is a good thing. I hope to have enough of the Saturday morning service completely finished before heading home in December to be able to perform it. I don’t know if that will happen or not, but it is a goal.
My instructor had to cancel the class for tonight, so my next lesson is on Monday. This gives me extra time to learn the new pieces and get them fixed in my head. G-d willing, it will work out that way!
This past Shabbat I stayed at the apartment and went to services locally. I am now getting known at the synagogue I “usually” go to when here and people have started talking to me there. While my initial impressions a couple months ago were that it was not an overly friendly place, they seem to be warming up to the stranger in their midst somewhat.
This weekend I am hoping to go to the yeshuv (settlement) again, this time with my flat mate. This should prove interesting as he is more secular in nature and this is a VERY observant settlement. There will likely also be a clash of his politics with some of the people at the settlement. I look forward to some interesting discussions as I know that both sides are very well informed.
